Layers of Learning
The Robotics Program at Pretty River Academy
PRA’s robotics teams are tomorrow’s innovators demonstrating imaginative thinking and teamwork. First Lego League, FLL, is…
Guided by their dedicated coach, Mrs. Andersen, First Lego League teams research a real-world problem. They also design, build, and program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology, then compete on a table-top playing field.
It all adds up to tons of fun while they learn to apply science, technology, engineering, arts, and math concepts (STEAM), plus a big dose of imagination, to solve a problem. Along their discovery journey, they develop critical thinking and team-building skills, basic STEM applications, and even presentation skills, as they present their solutions with a dash of creativity to judges. The FLL Core Values guide learning as student teams collaborate on their journey to the regional tournament. These Core Values support students in developing lifelong learning skills.
Our robotics teams are open to all students in grade 4 to 9. In addition, each elementary student at Pretty River has the opportunity to complete a robotics unit as a part of our science and technology curriculum.
