Her job scope broadly encompasses any and all non-educational functions with direct reporting to the school’s Board of Directors.

Katherine graduated from Queen’s University with a B.A and a B.Ed. Over the years she has taught for several different school boards teaching mainly in the primary division. Katherine has obtained her Primary Specialist degree as well as completing courses in the Primary/Junior Science division. She is very excited to be teaching the language, math, and science program in the primary division this year. Katherine also teaches the robotics program and runs the ever popular Lego Club.
As an international student program director, Raymond enjoys working for Pretty River Academy offering an excellent educational opportunity for students coming from abroad. As a born and raised “Beijinger” who lives in Ontario with his wife and son, Raymond understands both the challenges and rewards of experiencing life in another country. Raymond finished his Post-secondary education in Beijing and spends his time helping international students discover a new chapter in their lives with Pretty River Academy – a beautiful Private school located on the breathtaking shores of the Great Lakes. Mr. Raymond Cao helps international students throughout their application process including: providing information, interviewing, and document preparation. He also assists them throughout their stay here in Canada, including the following: home stay, visa renewal, guardianship, and daily life issues. In his private time, Raymond loves sea kayaking and spending time with his wife, son and his Lab.
Braden joined Pretty River Academy’s excellent group of educators this fall as a teacher of Intermediate & Senior English. His Combined Honours BA was obtained through the University of Western Ontario in English & History, where he studied subjects ranging from the history of East Asia to the best-known works in Post-Colonial Literature. After a short break to focus his energies, he attended OISE @ University of Toronto for his BEd, focusing on multicultural classrooms and teaching strategies. Upon returning to Collingwood, Braden joined together with a team of eager ‘educational coaches’ at Oxford Learning’s Collingwood branch and, more recently, taught Intermediate-level English, History, & Geography at the National Ski Academy in Collingwood, including a semester abroad in Switzerland. When he is outside of the classroom, Braden can often be found engrossed in the search for the next big world news item online or strolling and biking about the lovely Town of Collingwood.
This is Chris’s 14th year at Pretty River Academy and he is looking forward to teaching Grade 4 to 6, and high school business. Chris is a Laurentian University graduate in business studies where he was the captain of the mens varsity basketball team and was voted as a player Ontario All Star. Chris’s love of sports has taken him down the road to coaching. His most memorable moment was leading the Pretty River Predators to the “A” OFSAA championship and winning the gold medal. Canada’s Hoosiers team was featured in Sportsnet magazine. When Chris isn’t in the gym he is enjoying outdoor activities and family time.
Fondly known as “Mr.Mac” Ross was educated at The University of Waterloo where he received an Honors Bachelor in Science & Mathematics. Later at McGill (Education). Ross taught internationally for many years prior to coming to Collingwood with his family. This will be Ross’ second year at Pretty River Academy, and loves having his daughters at the school with him. Mr.Mac teaches math and physics.
Brayden’s nearly 20 years of teaching experience evolved reflecting his passion for the outdoor and love of the written word. Teaching outdoor education and fly fishing classes funded his Honours English Language and Literature degree at Wilfrid Laurier University. He completed his teaching degree at Lakehead University then taught at-risk youth, outdoor education and ran summer camps. Brayden was recruited from an Outdoor Education center 9 years ago while Pretty River Academy was visiting. When not in the school he can be found pursuing trout in the local rivers or covered in saw dust while working in his wood shop.
Lynn completed an undergraduate honours degree in Sociology and Childhood & Social Institutions at the University of Western Ontario and then continued onto the University of Windsor to receive her Bachelor of Education. Lynn taught and traveled throughout South East Asia for three years and lived in Whistler, BC for two before settling down in Collingwood. Outside of school Lynn enjoys the outdoors including hiking, running and snowboarding.
Kristin has her Honours B.A. from the University of Western Ontario, with double major in French and Spanish as well as a Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario, specializing in primary/junior French Immersion. Kristin taught core French in Collingwood and Wasaga Beach (grades 4-8) for two years, before joining the staff at PRA as the Spanish Teacher in March 1999.
Judi graduated with honours in Early Childhood Education. Believing that learning is a lifelong process, she enjoys learning new skills. Raised in Clarksburg, Judi has spent most of her life working with children and their families. She worked for the Simcoe Board of Education for 14 years before coming to Pretty River Academy in 2000. Judi is a mother of 2 boys, Walker and Zac, both Pretty River Academy graduates. Outside of school Judi enjoys her dogs, gardening, friends, family and reading. She is looking forward to working with the children and their families this year!
Steve White is a visual artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Queen’s University. He has exhibited his artwork across Canada and USA and has been the recipient of many grants, awards, reviews and critical acclaim. His solo exhibition The Combine Project was shown at the Tom Thomson Art Gallery, Owen Sound, ON, Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo ON, Grimsby Public Art Gallery and will be exhibited at the Museum Of Steam and Technology in Hamilton ON, October, 2013. This will be Steve’s eighth year teaching at PRA and he is excited about fostering and developing creativity within the PRA environment. Karen Wong’s 19 years of combined teaching roles as an Early Childhood Education Teacher with an international private kindergarten in Hong Kong, supply teaching with Simcoe County and as a Primary, Junior and Intermediate Teacher with Pretty River Academy brings with her a multitude of teaching experiences. She believes the strengths of children are enhanced by early positive learning experiences and a strong foundation of crucial academic skills, which builds essential learning blocks for years to come. Karen Completed her Bachelor of Arts at York University and her Masters of Teaching at Griffith University. Karen strives to live a balanced life by pursuing interests, which includes reading, skiing, photography, staying active and spending time with her family and friends.
