Academics

Pretty River Academy uses the Ontario Provincial Curriculum as the foundation for education from Preschool through Grade 12.  We are a passionate school that believes strongly in moving beyond curriculum expectation, through the promotion of creative and critical thought.

Since 1998, Pretty River Academy has fulfilled its mission of developing students of character by promoting academic excellence, self-confidence, leadership, and independent thinking in an enriching, supportive atmosphere. This environment ensures the success of our students, preparing them for leadership at university and beyond. Small class sizes with a low student/teacher ratio result in a learning environment, which is intuitive to the needs of the students. Teachers utilize differentiated instructions to access each student’s preferred learning style helping them engage and enjoy the educational process.

Pretty River Academy’s challenging academic curriculum is dedicated to giving your child the skills that will allow them to flourish and meet the demand of the modern world. It is our aim to help each child fulfill his or her own unique potential.

The triad of student, parent and teacher relationship is one of the components that make Pretty River Academy students successful. Students, teachers and parents work hard to move forward through regular and open communication, creating a positive and supportive environment. Parents are welcomed to request additional interviews with teachers to address any questions or concerns regarding the student.

Pretty River Academy’s academic and extracurricular offerings are designed to foster growth in the “Four Pillars” Academics, Arts, Athletics and Community. Students in all grades participate in several enrichment activities, including science fairs, robotics, house competitions, and annual drama productions.

  • In addition to JK- Grade 12, a three-year old preschool program is available.
